A Message from Your Principal
This post was created on 10/05/2026.
Dear Pasco K-8 Families,
October is here, and our Pirates have so much to celebrate! As we close out the first quarter, I want to thank our families for the partnership, encouragement, and support you continue to provide. This month brings important academic dates, exciting athletic events, and opportunities for our students and families to stay connected to our school community.
⏰ Be On Time, Pirates! Our tardy bell rings at 8:30 a.m., which is also when our car rider gate closes. Please plan to arrive with enough time for students to be on campus and ready to learn before the bell.
🏴☠️ Our First Pep Rally! We are excited to host our first-ever Pasco K-8 Pep Rally on October 6! Students in grades 3-5 will celebrate at 9:30 a.m., and grades 6-8 will attend during 6th period. We haven't forgotten about our littlest Pirates! Our student-athletes will visit K-2 students during their lunches so they can join in the Pirate spirit, too.
⭐STAR Early Literacy Testing: K-2⭐
Our youngest Pirates will participate in the STAR Early Literacy assessment throughout the school year. Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade will take this assessment five times during the year, allowing us to closely monitor their growth and progress toward becoming proficient readers.
Our October testing dates are:
🍎 Kindergarten: October 6
📚 1st Grade: October 7
⭐ 2nd Grade: October 8
These assessments help our teachers celebrate student growth, identify areas where additional support may be needed, and adjust instruction to meet each child's needs.
Families can help by making sure students arrive at school on time, get a good night's sleep, and are ready to show what they know! 📖🏴☠️
📚 Accelerated Reader Is Here! We are thrilled to begin using Accelerated Reader to encourage our students to read independently and build strong reading habits. Please help us by encouraging your child to read for at least 30 minutes every night. Those 30 minutes add up and can make a tremendous difference in your child's growth as a reader!
⏰ EARLY RELEASE DAY
Wednesday, October 28
October 28 is an Early Release Day for Pasco County Schools. Pasco K-8's published early release time is 12:50 p.m. [pasco.k12.fl.us]. Please make arrangements for your child's early dismissal.
📚 END OF THE FIRST QUARTER
The first quarter officially ends Friday, October 9. Monday, October 12 is a Teacher Planning Day, so there will be no school for students. First-quarter report cards are scheduled for Friday, October 16. [pasco.k12.fl.us] This is a great time for families to review grades, attendance, assignments, and academic progress with their child.
Please take a few moments to review this month's Pirate Post so you don't miss any of the important dates, activities, athletic events, and celebrations happening at Pasco K-8.
Thank you for being an important part of our Pirate family. Together, we are continuing to build something special at Pasco K-8. It's a great time to be a Pirate! 🏴☠️
Sincerely,
Dr. Rudolph-Fladd
