Dear Pasco K-8 Families,

We are off to a great start at Pasco K-8, and I am incredibly proud of our students, staff, and families for making the opening weeks of school such a success. Thank you for your partnership and support as we begin what promises to be an outstanding school year.

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we encourage all students to strive for perfect attendance. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in student success. To celebrate our students' commitment to being at school every day, we will recognize those who achieved perfect attendance during the month of August with a special ice cream celebration.

This month, we are also challenging all students to read 20 minutes each evening, for a total of 100 minutes per week. Did you know that students who read 20 minutes each day will read approximately 3,600 minutes during a school year, totaling nearly 1.8 million words? These students often perform in the 90th percentile academically. Reading every day is one of the simplest and most effective ways to support student achievement, and we appreciate your help in making reading a daily family routine.

In addition to attendance and reading, we are excited to launch three athletic programs this fall. Join us on September 1 at Pasco High School for the inaugural Pasco K-8 football game in the stadium. We will have exclusive Pirate merchandise available for purchase at our football games. Come cheer on our football players and support our amazing cheerleaders!

Our girls' volleyball team will host its first home game on September 9 in the Pasco K-8 gym. We will also hold our first school-wide pep rally that day as we celebrate our student-athletes and build school spirit. Go Pirates!

Thank you for your patience as we continue to refine our arrival and dismissal procedures. Please know that our ultimate goal is to ensure the safety of every student. We are pleased to report that our car lines are ending by 3:15 p.m. or earlier each day. You will also notice new fencing being installed around campus to provide safer pedestrian crossings and additional security for our students and families.

Thank you for your continued support of Pasco K-8. Together, we can make this an exceptional year of learning, growth, and success for all students.

Regards,

Dr. Rudolph-Fladd
